Apply for Public Housing
Call the Residential Property Officer on (06) 356
8199 to make an interview appointment.
- Bring a reference from a previous landlord to
the interview appointment.
- Your application will be placed on a waiting list. We allocate
vacant flats according to need and on consideration of who is on
the waiting list.
- You will need to pay 2 weeks rent in advance and a bond equal
to 3 weeks rent.

Conditions of occupying a Council flat
- Rents are set at market rates, reviewed once a year (in
October), and usually increased in December.
- You pay rent fortnightly in advance. The Council enforces this
rule strictly.
- The Council maintains the grounds and buildings. The tenant
keeps the flat safe, clean and tidy.
