e-Waste Recycling

Palmerston North City Council is now collecting e-Waste in partnership with RCN e-Cycle

The Ferguson Street Recycling Centre has become an RCN e-Cycle site offering electronics recycling.

The Centre will now be able to receive electronic waste, (e-waste) which includes computers, monitors, televisions, mobile phones, electrical cables, photocopiers and printers.

The e-waste is sent to an RCN processing plant in Wellington where it is dismantled and recycled in an ethical and environmentally sustainable way. Much of the e-waste contains elements that can be recycled, but it also contains chemicals that can leach into the soil and waterways making it one of the most toxic types of waste in the world, far more toxic than common household rubbish.

Hours for the Ferguson Street Recycling Centre are:

7.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday
8.00am to 4.30pm Saturday
